BMHA REMEMBERS KELLY MILES
It is with great sorrow we announce that Kelly suddenly passed away on September 28, 2018.
Kelly was born in Richmond, B.C., the youngest of eight children. He was a proud graduate of UBC commerce and spent nearly his entire career at Chevron Canada, now Parkland Fuel Corporation.
Kelly was proudest of his children, Raiden and Danika. Everything he did and all he accomplished was for them and because of them. Through his children, his legacy lives on. Kelly was involved for many years with the Burnaby Minor Hockey Association, at first as an enthusiastic parent of Raiden – he never missed a practice or a game – and in the past four years he served on the BMHA Executive Committee. Kelly also served on the executive board as president for Danika’s synchronized swim club, Burnaby Caprice when Danika first began swimming.
Kelly will be remembered for his diplomacy, intelligence, grace and dedication, all of which made him a natural leader – someone that people trusted to follow, and he didn’t fail their expectations. Most of all Kelly will be remembered for his incredible sense of humour. Everyone who knew him can’t help but to keep his memory alive by recalling a time that that they shared a laugh with Kelly – there will be no shortage of those memories for those who knew him.
Kelly was predeceased by his father Howard and brother Bob, and leaves behind his wife Laura, their children Raiden and Danika, his mother Vivian, his siblings: Mike, Debbie, Gary, Richard, Ron and Steve and their families, his favourite cat Chester and the bane of his existence the family dog Zoey. Kelly will also be missed by Laura’s extended family and many friends.
Rest in Peace our beloved husband, father and friend.
