BMHA Alfred Balfry Memorial Award (Bursary)
Team Play, Character, Sportsmanship & Hockey Ability
Grade 12 Student - $500
Established by the BMHA Executive in 1980/1981 from donations received in memory of Alfred Balfry, a former playing member of the Association. This award, in the form of Bursary, is presented to a Grade XII player displaying team play, character, sportsmanship, and hockey ability. Being a bursary, it is intended for a member intending to participate in post-secondary education. The bursary was increased to $500 by the Executive in 2009/2010.
Potential award winners are nominated from the membership, most often by coaches. Application forms are emailed to nominees.
BC Hockey ScholarshipBC Hockey Scholarship InfoBC Hockey scholarships are awarded annually to deserving recipients who are in their graduating year of high school and are presently registered members with BC Hockey or former members playing in the Western Hockey League. All BC Hockey members are eligible including officials, players, coaches and volunteers. The eligibility criteria and application procedures are set out on the application forms.
PCAHA ScholarshipPCAHA Scholarship Application Each year the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association awards a number of scholarships in recognition of academic achievement and community/school service combined with hockey participation. If you are (i) a registered player with any team in the PCAHA Midget or Juvenile divisions, and (ii) in grade 11 or 12 or graduated from high school, you are eligible to apply for PCAHA Scholarships.
Before applying, please read the program summary and guidelines found at the link above. Then, carefully complete the Scholarship Application form and attach the required supporting letters and other documents.
PCAHA Scholarship Tournaments Each year the PCAHA holds four special recognition events to promote the ideals of scholastic achievement and sportsmanship combined with participation in Minor Hockey at the Midget and Juvenile levels, and to showcase the talents of players in these divisions.
