Season Plan - 2009-2010
“As you are aware, there will be considerable disruption during the 2009-2010 season arising from arena closures, transportation issues, and events connected with the Winter Olympic Games (February 12-28,2010) and Paralympic Games (March 12-21, 2010). There has been discussion on this subject at the last two Presidents Caucus meetings as well as at Executive Committee meetings, as a result of which a prospective season plan has been developed based on the following:
· Commencement of league schedules approximately 2 weeks earlier than normal.
· Shortening the “A” Placement Round to 3 weeks from the usual 4 weeks.
· Scheduling playoffs over a longer period of time to allow for arena closures and transportation issues.
It should be noted that even had there not been changes related to the Olympic Games, the period for league and playoff schedules in 2009-2010 would have been shortened as a result of the earlier-than usual dates for School Spring Break (March 6-14, 2010).”
