2009 Tournament Report

The largest female hockey tournament in Canada happened November 7th-8th at Burnaby 8 Rinks. Each year there is a waiting list of teams who want to enter, and most teams return every year.  The tournament is organized and run by volunteer Burnaby Minor parents in cooperation with Canlan Ice Sports. We had 71 teams and approx 1200 players ranging in age from 5 – 17 participating.

For our BMHA Wildcats Novice players, this weekend's tournament meant their first games of the season. They played two games, one vs North Shore Avalanche and one vs North Shore Winter Club.

The Peewee Team made it to the finals in their tier (Peewee Tier 2) with a record of three wins one loss in the round robin. They finished second in their tier with a loss to North Shore Winter Club in and exciting championship game.

Bantams finished fourth in the Tier 3 division with one tie and three losses.

One goal games were the difference for the Midgets who started off with a 4-3 win over Chilliwack, but then lost their next two games by one goal, and their final by 3, to finish 4th in their pool.

Tournament winners were:
Atom A1 - North Shore Avalanche
A2 - Chilliwack Warriors

Peewee Tier 1 - Tri Cities Predators
Tier 2 - North Shore Winter Club
Tier 3 - Chilliwack Warriors

Bantam Tier 1 - North Shore Avalanche
Tier 2 - South Delta Storm
Tier 3 - North Shore Avalanche

Midget Tier 1 - Kelowna JR Rockets

Tier 3 - Vancouver Angels

Thank you parents of the Burnaby Minors’ own Wildcats for organizing another successful tournament!
