They went 6-0-0 in the tournament to win gold in thrilling and convincing fashion against teams from Seattle, N Delta, Ridge Meadow and New West. Their defensive squad of Ryan Watson, Josh Beauregard, Nick Scarr, and Aidan Maddalozzo stifled the oppositions to just 6 goals through out their 6 games. And goalie Jeffery Felix looked like Luongo making spectacular saves on the shots that did come through. Team captain Christopher Pan had a tournament high of 10 goals and 3 assists to lead the team's offense. The boys all gave their best and their parents all received a very special holidays gift for 2009.
Burnaby Minor Bantam A2 get Early New Year's Celebration

A New Year's celebration came early for the Burnaby Minor Bantam A2 Hitmen hockey team after winning the Langley Minor Hockey Association's Bantam Winter Classic Tournament held Dec 26 - 28, 2009.
The team bounced back from a first game loss to the North Vancouver Storm to run the table & win the Gold Medal with a record of 5 wins & 1 loss. Both teams faced adversity due to depleted rosters resulting from players & coaches delayed in a multi-car accident on the Port Mann Bridge.
They enjoyed balanced scoring, contributions from all lines & very solid goaltending throughout the tournament with both goaltenders receiving game MVP awards. In 2 games they gave up early leads, but showed great tenacity & team play to come from behind for the wins. In the 3rd period of the Gold Medal game the team rallied short handed to stave off a 5 on 3 power play push by the North Delta Demons to ensure the 6 - 2 win.
Coaches Jeff Matsuda & Phil Mills look forward to the team carrying this momentum forward into a strong finish to the regular season & playoff run in their tight Flight 3 grouping. "We are in a competitive grouping where the boys are learning that consistency, disciplined team play & effort for the entire game are necessary for success," says Jeff. "It was a team victory in every sense & we are proud of their accomplishment."
Burnaby Minor Bantam A2 Hitmen wishes to extend, "A special thanks to associate coach Dan Jeffries for his continued support & to thank the Langley Hockey Association & all their volunteers who gave up their time to make the tournament a success.
